Timperley ‘A' 18 v Poynton 0
The U16 ‘A' got off to a great start this Saturday, beating
Poynton Blackbirds 18-0.
This was the first time the team had played together with
new players who have moved up the U14's to the higher age group mixing with the
second year U16's. Watching the boys play you would have thought that they had
played together all season such was the high level of movement and interplay.
Some of the confidence was gathered during the US
tour this summer when many of the boys played together for 10 days.
The high score was achieved through teamwork rather than any
individual player dominating the game. Having said that Tom Sandy bagged 10
goals and has taken an early lead in the high score table. Tomb has declared
war and will be looking to correct the position over the next few weeks.
There wasn't much for the defence to do during the game as
the Timperley middies and attackers kept the play down by the Poynton goal, but
when they were called into action they dealt with any attack with ruthless
efficiency.
This was a good result for Justin and Wylo - they must be
full of confidence for the coming season. Many thanks to Adam Sherlock for
refereeing the game - its good to have you back.
